Team Campbell Eventing installs 17 IAE Equestrian Stables on their yard in Kent

Installations of 17 IAE Equestrian Stables reach completion on Jesse and Georgia Campbell’s Eventing yard in Kent.

In October 2022, Team Campbell Eventing approached IAE to discuss a refurbishment project they were wanting to undertake on their busy Eventing yard in Kent. The project involved converting an existing farm building that was being used for storage into an open plan equestrian stabling facility with capabilities of housing up to 17 horses.

Jesse Campbell, who has competed on behalf of New Zealand at the Olympics said: ‘We were looking for a stabling solution that was of high quality and value for money. A system that would really stand the test of time. In addition to this, we needed a solution that could meet our timeframe requirements; we wanted the project to be finished before the Eventing season began (April 2023)’.

Ben Mould, Area Sales Manager for the East of England first visited the site in November 2022, where he met with Jesse and Georgie to establish their precise requirements. From this, Ben observed that not only was the stabling environment extremely busy, but also that there are a variety of different sized and aged horses to stable. Additionally, maximisation of space utilisation whilst keeping the environment practical to work within was key to this project.

Ben said: ‘We worked through five different design layouts, which then lead to us assessing the pros and cons of each design with Team Campbell. Customer input is key to a good layout, which lead to the final design you see in the images being chosen as the customer thought it would work best for them and their horses’.

Some of the key features of the final design included:

  • Multiple access points to the building so that the yard staff and horses don’t have to travel long distances to get from one side of the yard to the other
  • Different sized stables to cater for the variety in size of horses
  • Enough space between and around the stables to allow horses to pass through the stabling environment without any narrow or dark gaps to tackle
  • External windows to allow the horses to look out onto the main yard

In addition to this, by working closely alongside the groundwork contractors (Duke Contractors) and the installation team (Churnet Valley Installations), considerations and arrangements for water points were also made to ensure the best outcome for Team Campbell.
