IAE Supports Dutch Spotted Sheep Sale!

8th September, 2022 | posted by IAE Media

On Wednesday 31st of August 2022 we had the pleasure of supporting the annual Autumn Dutch Spotted Sheep Sale held at Welshpool Livestock Market.

The day began with the show, in which finely presented Dutch Spotted sheep were judged across various classes. The classes included: Shearling Ram, Ram Lamb, Aged Ewe, Shearling Ewe and Ewe Lamb, with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place being drawn from each of the classes. The winners of each class then went on to be judged for the championship, where a Male and Female Champion was awarded, along with Reserve Champion.

Shortly after the conclusion of the show, the sale began, with crowds of over 150 people being drawn to the ringside to watch the sale get under way. Over 260 sheep were entered into the sale of which over 125 were rams and 140 were female.

The sale was topped by a ewe named Wedderburn Flirty who sold to an undisclosed buyer for 18,000gns. The equivalent of £18,900. Second on the price list was a shearling gimmer, Merryboro Eye Candy who sold for 2,400gns on the day.

Overall, the Autumn Sale was an excellent day for the Dutch Spotted Breed Society and we were honoured to have played a part in the day as the main sponsor of the event.
