Founded in 1969, IAE are the UK’s largest manufacturer of agricultural livestock handling and feeding equipment and industrial security fencing. Family owned, with a workforce of approximately 450 people.

The Role:

We have an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, to lead and develop our manufacturing Engineering team. Working directly with the Production management team, and closely with the Design Engineering Manager/team and key responsibilities are to deliver NPI programs on plan, drive operational excellence, reduce costs, and providing production support to meet business targets.

• Directly responsible for leading and managing the Manufacturing Engineering team.

• Drive continuous improvement in process, quality, and value engineering.

• Manage production engineering activities relating to NPI projects, utilising and developing the DFM process.

• Agree, meet, and exceed deadlines for NPI deliverables

• Set high standards of technical knowledge through personal example and promote this behaviour throughout the team.

• Develop and introduce Standard Operating Procedures for new and existing product lines.

• Identifying, investigating, reporting, and rectifying manufacturing issues affecting throughput and quality.

• Efficiently manage production engineering task priorities and monitor progress to resolution.

• Overseeing pre-production process, reporting and feedback on design-related issues to development as part of a design review process.

• Maintaining internal processes to support the education of the wider team and upskilling.

• Participate in Engineering Change Request (ECR) evaluation process, alongside the Design Engineering manager.

• Drive ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders) to completion. • Ensure design, trial, manufacture and commission of necessary tooling, jigs, and fixtures on time and cost.

• Ensure on time delivery of item data creation and change, with particular regard to ERP manufacturing data.

• Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility and ensure KPIs are met.

The Candidate:

To be successful in this role of Manufacturing Engineering Manager we would be interested in speaking to anyone who has:

• Relevant management experience and strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with other functional areas.

• End to end knowledge of manufacturing/steel fabrication production & assembly processes.

• Experience in driving new products into production to tight deadlines.

• Ability to liaise with technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior management.

• Strong, delivery focused management ability, with the skill to set targets, achieve deadlines in line with defined budgets.

• Good understanding of the commercial and business implications of failure to deliver quickly and on time.

• Degree Level /equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data to advise and compile proactive action plans.
• Experience in production or manufacturing engineering in a quality critical environment (5+ years).

• Strong IT skills – IT skills, Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft project.

• Proficient in use of CAD packages; Solidworks, Inventor, AutoCAD.

Hours:

Working 39 hours, Monday to Friday IAE offers a choice of working schedules on a 2-week rotational basis, including the option a of Lunch Time Finish every other Friday. Earliest
available start 7.30am and latest available finish is 5pm.
